How-To: Spices, Spices Everywhere

At the grocery store, I bought a new container of cinnamon. I came home, attempted to put the cinnamon into the drawer where we keep our spices and was greeted with...this:



This gives me hives just looking at the chaos, but it also brings up a point- why put up with this craziness? Why not just man up and organize the heck of this tiny little drawer?

Well, my friends, I finally gave in. May I present: our current spice drawer!



Are you jealous?

We get most of our spices at our local food co-op, where they get put into little plastic bags that we take back and refill. Good for the environment but an organizing nightmare. Solution time: we seriously just grabbed two of 6399 million plastic food containers living in our container cabinet (eesh...let's talk about that cabinet another day, okay?) and sorted the spices. Pre-ground in one container, whole in another. The jarred spices get nestled into their own little space and all of the random odds and ends go in the back. Easy peasy and it cost us $0!!!

Ahhh. Not bad for 9am on a Sunday morning.
