When the weather starts to get toasty, we move outside. We are going without air conditioning for the second year in a row (gasp!!!), so we tend to spend as much time outside as possible.
Have you ever seen our porch? It's awesome, and stays super cool during the summer. Hammock swing- check.
Lots of space to hang out with friends- check. Window boxes in bloom- check. Dining table- check.
Isn't it adorable?
Let's just say that a porch is VERY high on the "must-have" list for our new abode. What would we do without one?

A Little Eye Candy- For the Bedroom
Oh hello! I'm hanging out enjoying the gorgeousness that is our weather today! Knowing that we're moving is getting me in daydream mode- I'm constantly scheming room layouts and furniture re-do's for our new space. Here's what's getting me all hot and bothered lately:
1. Our current bedroom stores nearly all of our "stuff", so I'm dreaming of a calm environment with minimal decoration. (via)
2. This is a great article on making your bedroom more sleep friendly: wouldn't you sleep sooo well in this gorgeous bedroom? (via)
3. I super love this as a headboard. We have a huge stack of pallet wood just waiting for this.....(via)
4. So bright and clean. Snoooooooozzzeeeeeee (in the best way possible). (via)

Night Table Re-do
Oh the joys of a few bucks worth of paint! In the span of an hour, you can transform something previously unremarkable into a lively and fun statement piece.
We took this $12 dresser from Goodwill with it's stains and scratches and slapped on a coat of Martha Stewart's "Maine Lobster". A little Modpodge and some scrapbook paper prettied up the little drawer. We love it!

Carving Out a Work Space
When you live in a tiny, oddly shaped apartment, it can be difficult to figure out where to put your furniture. Our apartment has several nooks that we have struggled with since moving in over three years ago. One is in our bedroom and currently houses a dresser and our ginormous TV. We strung up a curtain to cover up the TV when we have guests, etc.
The second nook is in our living room and is the location of our only living room window. In this nook, we have placed: a bookshelf, a reading chair, a table and a Christmas tree. None of these setups seemed to work- the chair just gathered junk, the bookshelf was too tall and blocked light and the Christmas tree can't stay up all year.
While moving around some furniture, I had a lightbulb moment. Why not make that nook our office space? I usually blog at the kitchen table or in bed, but I've been wanting a space to spread out a little bit. Our desktop computer currently lives in a corner of our bedroom and is a clutter magnet. So, after a bunch of moving and rearranging, behold:
What do you think? Does our little office nook work? We want to paint the desk a bright grayish-white and get a larger rug to define the "office": area.

Easter Table Inspiration
I'm planning an Easter brunch for both sides of our family. This, in addition to the wonderful church service and food, needs to include super cute (and springy!) decor. On a $10 budget.
We're planning to use the pale and springy color pallette from our spring mantel, but I've been combing through all of the Easter posts around the interweb for even more ideas. Here's what's inspiring me:

We've already picked up a few delicate, floral teacups and saucers that we plan to integrate into the table setting, perhaps holding some flowers or as place cards.
Adding in some natural elements like nests and branches will add some texture and not break the bank. I'm planning to snip a few large bunches of lilacs that bloom at my folk's house (where we're holding the brunch), so I think we'll easily come in under budget. I'm going to mock it up at our place, so expect some photos over the weekend!

St. Pattie's Day Style
As we mentioned in this post, we whipped up a thrifty little feast for St. Patrick's Eve for under $20! While getting groceries, I found a few great little potted plants-shamrock and daffodils, to spruce up our table. They will last a while on our windowsill after the dinner, so it was $5 well spent.
Check out our Irish style table! We already had the tablecloth, runner and place mats.
We plunked a few flowers left from my Valentine's Day (!!!) bouquet into some green glass bottles (I think they were beer bottles?). I tossed in a little shamrock garland that I grabbed at Dollar Tree to make it a little sparkly.
We had a wonderful dinner with our neighbors (who brought lots of Murphy's Stout to share!) Here's Mike embracing his inner Irish and enjoying a pint!

Spring Has Sprung, Y'all!
Check out our springy mantel!
We added a few inexpensive spring accents thanks to an awesome 50% off sale at Michaels!
We snagged the green tea light cup and yellow bird for a mere $1.50 each!
The bird houses were $1.00 for the little one and $1.99 for the taller one (only $1.00 with the 50% off coupon we had!).
We stuck on some cheery Robin's egg blue paint and some pretty cream and brown floral scrapbook paper with Mod Podge and prettied em up in just a few minutes!
Oh and here are some cute little pink faux florals! I'm usually not a huge fan, but I really wanted some extra foliage since we're not getting the real deal for quite some time.
Aren't these little pink flowers so cute? They're tucked into a cream colored vase. I love them.
Here's a little nest for our nest. Actually just some plastic eggs tucked into a braided wreath from Dollar Tree.
The total for our little spring makeover? Under $15!!! That gives us quite the spring fever!
